Toronto, August 15, 2019 – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) announced today that 44 projects would receive a total of over $22.6M in funding through three of its programs. A total of $7.7M will fund 17 projects through the Aboriginal Program. A further $9.4M will be invested in the production of 10 innovative digital media projects through the first round of funding of its Experimental Stream’s Innovation Program. An additional $5.5M are being invested in 17 projects through the English POV Program.

This collaboration will leverage resources from both organizations in order to encourage more positive outcomes in the development of this booming format.

Toronto, August 7, 2019 – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) today announced it is welcoming Kelly Wilhelm to its executive team. Wilhelm will take on the newly created role of Chief Strategy Officer. Reporting directly and acting in an advisory capacity to Valerie Creighton, CMF’s President and CEO, Wilhelm is tasked with contributing to setting the future trajectory of the CMF, with a specific focus on innovation through the lens of industry-wide disruption and opportunities for growth.

Toronto, July 18, 2019 - The Canada Media Fund (CMF) announced today the reopening of the Corus-CMF Page to Pitch Program, with a program budget set at over $830K. Applications for funding can be submitted until October 10, 2019. Funding can be triggered by any business that fulfils the CMF’s expanded definition of Canadian Broadcaster.

Toronto, July 17, 2019 – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) announced today that 44 projects would receive a total of over $12M in funding through three of its programs. A total of $4.3M will be invested in 16 innovative digital media projects through the first round of funding of its Experimental Stream’s Prototyping Program and an additional $1.6M are being invested in six projects through the Innovation Program: Limited Marketing and Promotion. A further $6.1M will fund 16 projects through the Francophone Minority Program.

Toronto/Buenos Aires, July 16, 2019 - The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and the Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) of Argentina announced today an agreement to establish an incentive for the codevelopment of animated television series, and other digital media content between Canadian and Argentine creators. The total budget for the Incentive is set at over CAD $130,000.

Toronto, July 11, 2019 – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and Film Fund Luxembourg (FFL), the body responsible for film funding and media business development in Luxembourg, announced today the relaunch, for the second year in a row, of the Canada-Luxembourg Codevelopment and Coproduction Incentive for Audiovisual Projects.

Toronto, July 8, 2019 - The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and DHX Media announced today the launch of a new program to support the development of Canadian kids’ and family content. The DHX-CMF Kids and Family Development Program, which is funded by DHX Media at over $1.4M for two years, and administered by the CMF, aims to support new entrants to the production community as well as regional projects, creators in official language minority communities, and French-language producers. Half of the program’s funds are reserved for women-led projects.
