The Eighth Annual Montreal International Game Summit Reveals its Keynote Speakers31.08.2011
Montreal, August 9, 2011- The Montreal International Game Summit (MIGS) is thrilled to announce the keynote speakers attending its eighth annual event, which will take place next November 1st and 2nd at the Hilton Montreal Bonaventure hotel. During this event, presented by the Canada Media Fund, some of the video games industry’s most important players will take centre stage in front of more than 1,500 attendees.
Three keynote speakers
> Yves Guillemot, Co-Founder and CEO of Ubisoft. Yves Guillemot is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the company he founded with his four brothers in 1986. Named 2009 Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young, Yves leads the third largest independent video game publisher in the world. With 24 production studios located all around the world, the most important of which opened its doors in Montréal in 1997, Ubisoft has some of the biggest titles in the industry, such as Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance, Far Cry and Rainbow Six.
> Jason Rohrer, Independent Game Designer. Jason has designed, programmed and published 15 games since 2004. He also won the prestigious Game Design Challenge last March at the 2011 Game Developers Conference.
> Richard Lemarchand, Lead Game Designer at Naughty Dog. Richard led the design of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, and the eagerly-awaited Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, which will be released internationally on the day of his MIGS keynote.
And six track keynotes
> Arts & VFX: David Hego, Art Director at Rocksteady Studios. He has worked in the video games industry for more than 18 years, and is known for his work on Batman: Arkham Asylum which was nominated seven times at the GAME British Academy Video Games Awards.
> Audio (new track for 2011): Tom Salta, a prolific music composer known for producing scores featured in popular franchises such as HALO Anniversary, From Dust™, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands™, Tom Clancy’s: Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter™ 1 and 2, Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X ® 1 and 2, Red Steel® 1 and 2 and many others.
> Business: Alain Tascan, President of Sava Transmedia. Co-Founder of Ubisoft Montreal and Electronic Arts Montreal, he takes an active role in the growth of the Quebec video games industry and has recently launched his own studio.
> Design: Lee Perry, Senior Gameplay Designer at Epic Games. Lee designed core gameplay systems, creatures, weapons, and levels on many successful titles including Gears of War 1, 2 and 3, UT 2003 and UT 2004.
> Production: David Anfossi, Producer - DX:HR at Eidos-Montreal. David is one of the pioneers of Eidos-Montreal and produced the very first game developed by the studio, Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
> Technology: Stefan Boberg, Technical Director on the Frostbite Engine team at EA DICE. Stefan specializes in computer games, production infrastructure, and engine and systems architecture.
