International Coproduction and Codevelopment Incentives - Convergent

The Canada Media Fund (CMF) is pursuing its mandate of finding innovative solutions to support the coproduction and codevelopment of content with international partners. The CMF partners with certain funding organizations in other countries to develop matching funds to support the creation of innovative projects that have at least one Canadian and one international producer.

Below is a list of agreements for this fiscal year signed to date. New agreements with international partners will be announced throughout the year.

The Canada Media Fund’s mandate includes encouraging the development (and eventual production) – by Canadian producers with international coproducers of television or digital media content.

The CMF and Spcine also invite interested Canadian and Brazilian producers to share information on the website specifically designed by Spcine to foster coproduction opportunities: and to upload their profile through the CMF's Find a Coproducer form below.

For the 2016-2017 year, the Canada Media Fund (CMF) and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) are introducing the Canada-Ireland Co-Development Incentive for Audio-Visual Projects to fund new projects between producers from Canada and Ireland.

The Incentive is aimed at supporting new television projects (and digital media extensions of such TV projects) which fulfill both the mandate and vision of the CMF and the objectives and themes of BAI’s Sound and Vision Scheme.

To access funding a project must meet all eligibility requirements set out in the 2016-2017 Guidelines.

Only applications that meet all requirements will be considered for evaluation through the selective process.
